19 wins and counting: Grimaldi Forum Monaco on the magic of the M&IT Awards
This year marks a milestone for the Grimaldi Forum Monaco as it celebrates its 25th anniversary - and what better way to mark the occasion than by once again sponsoring the M&IT Awards. We caught up with general manager Sylvie Biancheri to hear her thoughts on the awards, the evolving events industry, and what’s next for Monaco’s flagship congress centre...
You’re sponsoring best tech provider this year - is this your first time sponsoring the M&IT Awards?
Not at all! The Grimaldi Forum Monaco has proudly supported the M&IT Awards on several occasions. It remains one of the highlights of our year and we’re delighted to be part of it once again.
Why did you decide to sponsor? What do the awards mean to you?
2025 is a milestone year for us, as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Grimaldi Forum Monaco. This year is the perfect moment to reaffirm our partnership with the M&IT Awards and I’m glad to personally present an award on stage. These awards represent values we deeply share: recognition, excellence and unity within our industry.
What, in your opinion, makes a great tech provider to the events industry?
In our opinion, a strong tech provider doesn’t just supply tools, they deliver solutions. They understand the specific needs of live events, adapt seamlessly to the organiser’s vision and enhance both engagement and efficiency for participants and organisers. Flexibility, innovation and reliability are essential qualities.
Are you a previous award winner? If so, how did that feel? Why is it important to win?
Yes, we’ve been recognised on 19 occasions since 2003, with a mix of gold, silver and bronze awards, including several consecutive golds between 2003 and 2011. As a congress centre based in Monaco, being acknowledged by our peers (particularly in the UK market, our leading non-French speaking clientele) is especially meaningful. Each award is more than a trophy; it stands as proof of the quality of our services and the confidence our clients place in us. A trust reflected by the fact that 45 per cent of them return.
Tell us about the night itself: why is it such a special occasion and why should the industry attend?
It’s one of the key moments of our industry, bringing together a community of professionals united by shared passion for events. The evening offers a unique atmosphere, valuable opportunities to connect and a clear reminder of the positive impact our work delivers.
Do you have a message for the finalists and soon-to-be winners?
Being shortlisted already means our work has made a significant mark. Whether or not we take home a trophy, we’re already recognised by our clients and peers as leaders in the field. Let’s celebrate together that achievement, we’ve earned it!
Are you excited about being on stage with the entertainment legend Vernon Kay?
As a French speaker, I must admit I wasn’t very familiar with Vernon Kay before. That said, I’m glad to share the stage with such a well-regarded British TV personality. His presence will no doubt add even more energy and glamour to an already unforgettable evening.
How would you sum up the industry this year — the big innovations, opportunities, highlights, challenges?
Despite a complex geopolitical context, the industry has once again shown remarkable resilience and creativity. From AI-driven innovation to stronger commitments to sustainability, the momentum is clearly positive. Clients’ expectations are higher than ever and we’re responding with more agile, inclusive, and meaningful event experiences. Yet at the core, the human connection remains our greatest strength.
What do you think will be the biggest factor impacting our industry in 2026?
MICE industry will continue to evolve, with clients increasingly drawn to destinations that combine efficiency, sustainability and memorable experiences. Venues offering integrated services, low-carbon solutions and a distinctive sense of place will stand out. Monaco, with its unique resort setting and cohesive offering, is already well-positioned for this shift.
Anything we should know about the Grimaldi Forum — any big plans for 2026 and beyond?
2026 will be our second year following the opening of our 6,000 sqm extension, completed in 2025. This extension increases our capacity by 50 per cent, introduces new outdoor spaces and offers greater flexibility to host a wider variety of events. In the year ahead our priority will be to fully harness this growth, embrace innovation, and reinforcing Monaco’s position as a leading destination for international business events.
And of course, we look forward to welcoming even more UK agencies and clients to the Grimaldi Forum Monaco. The Riviera sun is always waiting for you!
