The ‘Personality of the Year’ for the M&IT Awards 2017 is still undecided.

29 September 2016

Each year the award is presented to an individual who has benefited the industry outside his or her own financial interests. This is a special award because it is voted for by you. Have your say by nominating up to three of your industry peers by clicking here. Self-nominating is allowed.
Last year’s winner was none other than the Sundial Group’s Tim Chudley!

His career began in beer – with the establishment of one of the first micro-breweries in London in 1981. In the early 1990s he returned to his family home, Highgate House, to support the B&B business his mother had established and together with three of his eight siblings he set up what is now a thriving conference centre business.  He has always believed that a focused environment is better for the meetings business and he became a member of the first executive board of the Meetings Industry Association (MIA) and a founder member of Conference Centres of Excellence.  In recent years his family business has competed with some of the biggest multi-national venue companies and topped them for service levels and customer care.

He served on a Hospitality and Tourism group of the British Quality Foundation and became an ambassador for Northamptonshire. He is also a past Global President of the International Association of Conference Centres and in 2013 he was given the Global Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his commitment to the IACC and the conference centre industry worldwide. A charitable instinct was instilled in him from a young age and he takes his Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously. He has campaigned for the Living Wage to be adopted by the events industry and was recognised as a champion by the Living Wage Foundation. For the past 8 years he has served on the Executive Committee of Meeting Needs, the Event Industry Charity, and he once rode a motorcycle across India to raise money for charity. He has also given of his time to be a mentor to the Young Enterprise participants at the local secondary school to provide advice and guidance to students.

I think you will agree, Tim Chudley from the Sundial Group is a worthy recipient of the M&IT Personality of The Year Award in 2016.
